-Candlelight

This is an album that has been in heavy rotation on my iTunes/iPod in the past few weeks. Sort of a post hardcore meets indie sound. With a guy singer and girl screamer, this band has been a breath of fresh air to me. In an instant they can cross from a pop punky sound to heavy breakdowns reminiscent of Ion Dissonance. I remember seeing this band play the Safety Sheep House back in high school and being in awe at how catchy their music was and how great of a live show they put on. When they played Last Call, everybody knew the words and everybody sang along. As with many bands that I listen to regularly, The Invocation has disbanded and gone their separate directions. A good listen and a very unique mix of sounds that makes me think they are still ahead of the times.

In their own words, "The Invocation is a collection of sounds created from the pain and dreams of a restless youth. Being not afraid to speak of the reality of death, thoughts of suicide, the pain of losing those you love and the mental high of having someone near... A sound that is new and expressed in a way that you will not forget the first time you see us play, we strive to leave you with the impression of four sad little boys and one pissed off girl. That's what we were." And they aren't lying.

For fans of other local east TN bands such as Beware: The Gentlemen, Mouth Movements, Red Winter Dying, The Shape, Secret Lives of the Freemasons, This is Renaissance, and Gamenight.

*NOTE: I had to search for and rip each of these tracks individually due to the lack of the ability to make purchases online. Track 6 and track 11 both cut off the first 1 or 2 seconds of the song due to the site I found them on... Besides that, this is a quality upload and worth your time.*

Dark Funeral - De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine (Live in South America) 2004

Throughout the time of semi-popular black metal we have seen many bands come and go we have seen them rise and fall and quite possible even sell out, but this is one band who just never seems to quit making crushing black metal, what makes this band exceptionally odd is that the main person to really front this is there guitarist Lord Ahriman even though E.M. Caligula is the lead singer Ahriman really makes a lot of the magic work I think, anyways this live cd is covered across a few places in South America so its a different crowd than your normal live cd's you hear where you have some asshole heckle the band, these fans seem interested and even quite rabid at times chanting stuff I am not quite sure what it is, they repeat this same statement about 3 or 4 times but onto the cd itself

An Apprentice of Satan (Teach Children to Worship Satan EP)
The Secret of the Black Arts (The Secret of the Black Arts)
Vobiscum Satanas (Vobiscum Satanas)
Open the Gates (Dark Funeral)
Thus I have Spoken (Diablois Interium)

First of all if you are a complete Dark Funeral newbie this cd does not cover there most recent release Attera Totus Sanctus and An Apprentice of Satan is a Mayhem cover that was on there EP Teach Children to Worship Satan (Which as well on that EP they do a cover of slayer's Dead Skin Mask and really make it in another light its great) but if you heard about D.F's new live dvd Attera Orbis Terrarum part 1 and part 2, this cd will pretty much explain what those dvd's are like aside from Attera release obviously, i usually skip up live dvd's by Dark Funeral has a certain intensity to it that some other bands just can't grasp and this cd really shows it well with the songs I picked, take note that I only uploaded 5 out of 15 songs so go and get ready for father satan to open the fucking gates!
